William Wilkinson was born on 4th November 1844 at Rothbury, Northumberland. He married Mary Hindhaugh in 1866 at Rothbury and they had seven children, my GGrandfather John Wilkinson B1866, being the eldest. The other children were :- Esther Wilkinson born 1867 at Longhorsley. She married William Langford Fairchild Stevens on 25th June 1895 at Choppington and they had two children,  Robert Henry born 1896 in Sunderland and Harold born 1898, also in Sunderland. William was a postman and he died in 1953. Esther died on 5th October 1953 Dorothy Wilkinson was born in 1870 at Ulgham, Northumberland. She did not marry and in the 1911 census she is listed as a sick nurse for the Blyth Nursing Association living at Bowes Street Blyth. She died in 1955 aged 85. James Wilkinson was born in 1872 at Ulgham. In the 1901 census he is listed as umarried and living at home in Bedlington with his parents. He was working as a Deputy Overman in a coal mine. I can’t find him in the 1911 census and can’t find any death record for him. Mary Ann Wilkinson was born in 1874 at Ulgham. In 1901 Mary Ann was employed as a schoolteacher at was boarding at Rawtenstall in Lancashire. She was still single. No more records. Elizabeth Jane Wilkinson was born in 1876 at Ulgham. In 1901 she was a housemaid at Bothal Demenses. She married Walter Lionel Barrett in 1905 and by 1911 they had moved to Kilburn, London, where Walter was a Law Clerk. They had one daughter Harriett Mary, born 1908 in Willesden, Middlesex. Walter died on 16th June 1942 and Elizabeth died in 1946. Sarah Wilkinson was born in 1879 at Ulgham. She married William Robert Renwick, a butcher at Matfen, Northumberland, in 1909. They had one son, Wilkinson Renwick, born 28th October 1911 at Benwell. In 1911 he was a butchers assistant but he later became a priest and was vicar at Alwinton, Northumberland. Wilkinson married Margaret Eleanor Howey on 18th January 1943 at Hepple Parish church. They had no children.

John   Wilkinson ,   my   3xGGrandfather,   was   born   in   1817   at   Bavington,   Northumberland,   son   of      John Wilkinson,   born   1780   at   Bewcastle,   Cumberland   and   Elizabeth   (can’t   find   her   surname),   born   1784   at Haydon   Bridge,   Northumberland.   There   is   very   little   information   in   the   records   but   I   have   found   two siblings,      William   born   1814   in   Great   Bavington   and   Sarah,   born   1826   in   Bewcastle.   There   are   possibly   two further   siblings,   James   born   1822   and   Elizabeth,   born   1831   but   I   have   not   been   able   to   verify   this.   John married   Dorothy   Aynsley,   born   1821   at   Longhorsley,   on   8   June   1844   at   Thropton,   Northumberland.   John was   a   miner   but   died   aged   50   of   Typhoid.   Dorothy   died   on   30   June   1903,   aged   86.   Dorothy   had   five   siblings, William,   born   about   1821,   George,   born   1823   at   Longhorsley,   John,   born   1829,   James,   born   1832   and Lionel, born 1834 at Longhorsley. They had 9 children, my 2xGGrandfather William Wilkinson being the eldest. The others were:- George   Wilkinson,    born   1846   at   Netherwitton.   He   married   Frances   Jane   Rowell   in   1874   and   they   had four    children,    Elizabeth    J    Wilkinson    born    1875    at    Ulgham,    John    Rowell    Wilkinson    born    1876    at Widdrington   died   1943,   George   Wilkinson   born   1879   at   Otterburn   and   Dorothy   Wilkinson   born   1881   at Blyth. George was a miner and he died in 1883 at Newcastle. Frances died in 1917. Henry   Wilkinson   was   born   in   1849   at   Netherwitton.   The   only   reference   I   can   find   is   that   in   1871   he   lived at Wingates with his parents and he was a carpenter. James   Wilkinson    was   born   in   1851   at   Birkheads,   Netherwitton.   He   died   in   1867,   aged   15   and   was   buried the same week as his father, presumably from typhoid. John   Aynsley   Wilkinson   was   born   in   1853   at   Netherwitton.   He   married   Elizabeth   Emma   Caisley   in   1877 at   Gateshead   and   they   had   ten   children,   Frederick   born   1877   at   Rothbury,   William   Thomas   born   1879   at Rothbury   died   1808,   John   Henry   born   1882   at   Ferney   Beds,   Ellingham,      Victor   Lionel   born   1886   at   Ferney Beds   died   1911,   Emily   Violet   born   1888   at   Ellington   died   1962,   Gladys   born   1891   at   Ellington,   Dollis   Vera born    1893    at    Ellington,    George    Edward    born    1896    at    Longhorsley    died    1948,    Gerald    born    1897    at Longhorsley   died   1979   and   Lizzie   born   1900   at   Wingates.      John   Aynsley   died   in   1940   aged   86.   Elizabeth Emma   was   the   sister   of   the   mother   of   Emily   Davison,   the   suffragette   who   died   four   days   after   running   in front of King George V horse, Anmer, at the Epsom Derby on 4 June 1913. Sarah   Elizabeth   Wilkinson    was   born   in   1855   at   Netherwitton.   In   1911   she   was   a   live   in   housekeeper   to her brother Lionel at Bedlington. Both were single. No more records. Dorothy Wilkinson was born in 1858 at Netherwitton. No more records. Jane   Ann   Wilkinson   was   born   in   1861   at   Netherwitton.   She   married   Joseph   Hobbs   a   furniture   salesman     in   1884   at   Newcastle   and   they   had   seven   children   Mildred   born   1889   at   Wingates,   Hilda   born   1890   at Newcastle,   Olive   born   1891   at   Newcastle,   Jemima   born   1894   at   Newcastle,   James   born   1896   at   Heaton, Constance   born   1898   at   Islington   Middlesex   and   Clement   born   1898   also   at   Islington.   Jane   Ann   died   in 1962 at Harrow. Lionel   Wilkinson   was   born   in   1864   at   Longhorsley.   In   1911   he   lived   in   Bedlington   with   sister   Sarah Elizabeth and worked as an engine man for the water works. He was still single. He died in 1942.

John   Wilkinson,    my   4xGGrandfather   was   born   in   1780   at   Bewcastle   in   Cumberland. He   is   listed   as   working   as   an   agricultural   labourer   in   the   1851   census.   He   married Elizabeth   (surname   unknown)   who   was   born   in   Haydon   Bridge   in   1784.      They   had   four children,    my    3xGGrandfather    John    Wilkinson    being    the    second    eldest.    The    other children were :- William   Wilkinson    born   1814   at   Great   Bavington,   Northumberland   died   1893   in Bellingham.   He   also   married   an   Elizabeth   (surname   unknown)   who   was   born   in   1818   at Kirkwhelpington.     I     can     only     find     0ne     daughter,     Esther     born     in     1847     at Kirkwhelpington. William died in 1893. James Wilkinson was born in 1822. I can’t find any other records relating to him. Sarah   Wilkinson   was   born   in   1826   at   Bewcastle   in   Cumberland.   In   the   1851   census she   is   listed   as   living   with   her   parents   at   Ridsdale,   Corsenside,   unmarried   but   with   one son, John born 1847 at Bewcastle.
