William Wilkinson was born on 4th November 1844 at Rothbury, Northumberland. He
married Mary Hindhaugh in 1866 at Rothbury and they had seven children, my GGrandfather
John Wilkinson B1866, being the eldest. The other children were :-
Esther Wilkinson born 1867 at Longhorsley. She married William Langford Fairchild Stevens
on 25th June 1895 at Choppington and they had two children, Robert Henry born 1896 in
Sunderland and Harold born 1898, also in Sunderland. William was a postman and he died in
1953. Esther died on 5th October 1953
Dorothy Wilkinson was born in 1870 at Ulgham, Northumberland. She did not marry and in
the 1911 census she is listed as a sick nurse for the Blyth Nursing Association living at Bowes Street
Blyth. She died in 1955 aged 85.
James Wilkinson was born in 1872 at Ulgham. In the 1901 census he is listed as umarried and
living at home in Bedlington with his parents. He was working as a Deputy Overman in a coal
mine. I can’t find him in the 1911 census and can’t find any death record for him.
Mary Ann Wilkinson was born in 1874 at Ulgham. In 1901 Mary Ann was employed as a
schoolteacher at was boarding at Rawtenstall in Lancashire. She was still single. No more records.
Elizabeth Jane Wilkinson was born in 1876 at Ulgham. In 1901 she was a housemaid at Bothal
Demenses. She married Walter Lionel Barrett in 1905 and by 1911 they had moved to Kilburn,
London, where Walter was a Law Clerk. They had one daughter Harriett Mary, born 1908 in
Willesden, Middlesex. Walter died on 16th June 1942 and Elizabeth died in 1946.
Sarah Wilkinson was born in 1879 at Ulgham. She married William Robert Renwick, a butcher
at Matfen, Northumberland, in 1909. They had one son, Wilkinson Renwick, born 28th October
1911 at Benwell. In 1911 he was a butchers assistant but he later became a priest and was vicar at
Alwinton, Northumberland. Wilkinson married Margaret Eleanor Howey on 18th January 1943 at
Hepple Parish church. They had no children.
